January 2011 marks the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the first Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny in Trinidad. Pembroke Street, Port-of-Spain was the first place where women religious settled in the English-speaking Caribbean on that January day in 1836, and from there they branched out to the rest of Trinidad and Tobago and various islands in the region.

On Saturday, January 29, 2011 the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, proud bearers of the legacy of the valiant women who responded to the needs of the women of Trinidad as presented to them by the bishop of the day, gather with their friends, co-workers and associates to mark this significant moment in our history. This celebration will mark the beginning of a year-long period of reflection, remembering and planning for the future that will end in December 2011.

We invite the numerous persons whose lives have been shaped by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Convent, to join us in this activity. We invite your comments, suggestions and assistance as we plan for the year. Post your offerings right here.
